Support Adding YEAR to all folders and filenames (becoming popular now)
There is a strong trend now to remake a TV series using the SAME NAME and differentiating them by YEAR. It has become so popular now that it has become to difficult to manage ... MORE> your older shows if you forgot to include the year in the filename.
TV RENAME makes adding the year extremely difficult.
You can manually add the year by customizing each folder, and you can make a custom template to include the year after the ShowName. BUT, for something that is becoming commonplace, it feels like this should be a "set once option" instead of an override EVERYTIME you add a new series. You don't even support adding a year on Quick Add (which is a separate IDEA).
Some are vintage, but many are simply remakes from UK to US, or multiple releases of popular shows:
Battlestar Galactica (1978, 1980, 2003, 2020)
The Flash (1967, 1990, 2014)
V (1983, 2009)
Doctor Who (1963, 2005)
Being Human (2008, 2011)
Amazing Stories (1985, 2020)
Outer Limits (1963, 1995)
Twilight Zone (1952, 1985, 2019, 2002)
Charmed (1998, 2018)
The Tick (1994, 2001, 2016)
Lost in Space (1965, 2008, 2018)
Justice League/of America (1967, 1997, 2001, 2016)
Journey to the Center of the Earth (1967, 1999, 2013, +Movies)
Dallas, Will and Grace, Queer Eye, etc.
And sometimes it just helps remember which one is which, such as Spider-Man:The Animated Series (1994), Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends (1981), Spider-Man Unlimited (1999), Spider-Man (1967, 1981), Spider-Man: The New Animated Series (2003); or Roswell (1999) vs Roswell New Mexico (2019)

It can be a good idea, to allow user to build multiple collections of shows. It is easy to do, the way is to split TVRenameSettings.xlm in 2 files ..
One file named TVRenameSettings.xml that just contains the settings ( and that will be global ( us ... MORE> ed by all collections )
A second file named TVRenameShows.xml (for exemple) that contains all Shows and the folder stuff stored in a new folder each time for each "collection" in the "collection" folder, there will be a TVDB.xml ( that only contain the tvdb related stuff for the shows in the "collection" ... and Statistics.xml that store Stats for the "collection" only ...
Im "root" folder find : TVRenameSettings.xml ( with the general settings ) Layout.xml, Languages.xml and a new file TVRenameColls.xml wher we store the Collection name, relative path ( for root path ) and the description for the Collection
To make this stuff run, we need a new form to fill Collection infos ... and a way to switch for one collection to another ...

It would be nice to have a feature that looks for the right subtitle before the file gets renamed and moved, since alot of the subtitles are out of sync after the file gets the "right" name!

I have many TV shows that are not available in TheTVDB but I can easily get the information from other websites. Since TheTVDB does not allow bulk import I wont add 600+ items by hand. But it would be awesome if I could link TV Rename to a CSV file w

If anyone has every used Filebot, it allows you customize almost everything about your naming schemes down to the smallest details.
Something like this would be a nice addition to TV Rename and make it more robust and allowing more control.

Howdy! Great to find TV Rename.
tl;dr: quick instructions to start using TV Rename for users coming over from TheRenamer. If we can import data fine, otherwise we start anew at TV Rename. Confused also about TV Rename creating .NFO files vs lettin ... MORE> g Kodi scrape.
TV Rename looks amazing and robust with WAY too flexible for me to figure out what I need and what I don't.
Have used therenamer.com for years. It ran wonderfully until theTVDB went to API 2.0. TheRenamer hasn't been updated in 4 years and that is why a lot of us are here.
Program still works with other databases (imdb, thetvdb, etc). The website is still up.
Data that is behind therenamer includes support files that have show name and corresponding theTVDB ID Number. There are separate files for each scraper service. Movies, TV, Anime, Fights. Another file independent of scraper force renames the show name - ie: The Late Late Late Show with James Corden. I have it force renamed to James Corden and Kodi picks it up just fine with theTVDB scraper (when the API is working LOL).

Lets say there is a Show which is airing episodes in English spoken language. The same show is also airing in the Netherlands with Dutch spoken language for kids.
The parents want to watch in English and the kids in Dutch.
(Option 1)
In this cas ... MORE> e it would be nice to keep 2 files for the same episode, just like it is already possible with subtitle files.
For one episode there would be 2 video files which can be renamed like for instance:
1x01 - Do you see what I see [eng].mp4
1x01 - Do you see what I see [dut].mp4
(Option 2)
Most likely, when the same show is also being aired in Dutch, the episode names will also be in Dutch.
In that case there would be 2 video files for 1 episode like:
1x01 - Do you see what I see.mp4
1x01 - Zie jij wat ik zie.mp4
I think it is going to take some major changes within the programs code to make this possible.
So perhaps this is something to be implemented in the future V3 of TVR.
Personally I think this option is going to be very welcome for TVR users with kids.

There could be a 'find missing subtitles' mode that identified and copies subtitle files as it scans through the main library. Features as I see them:
* List of subititle extensions
* Overall flag on or off
* Flag on or off per show
* Capabi ... MORE> lty to deal with language variations
* Ability to set which language subs you are after
* Setup, maintain and link to certain subtitle provider sites (akin to the search providers now)
