Washed up rodeo clown finds redemption when he befriends the bull that ended his career
Harvey (Happy) Foote is down and out when his longtime career as bullfighter – rodeo jargon for the face painted, gaily attired, barrel wielding stuntmen that keep thrown cowboys from further pounding by hump-backed bulls enraged by ropes tied too closely to their maleness. Happy is gored and tossed by ‘Scene of the Crash’, an un-ridden 2,000 lb bovine when his Barrelman, Jose (No-way) Garcia is late distracting Mr. Scene. Happy lands awkwardly several rows up in the bandstand and never regains use of his left leg. Follow Happy through the twist and turns of his downward spiral until the climatic reunion with the bull that did him in (drama with the brahma). A story only Spielberg could tell – no, not that one.
